A real shiner!!!

Bon Jour, Everyone!!! (That’s Good Day to you in french!!!)

Writing this on the eurostar, traveling from Paris to London!!! With a big black eye!!! A real shiner! Don’t ask!

I enjoyed my time in Paris, overall. I’ve had a difficult time keeping up with emails and work, due to lack of internet in the apartment that I was in, but thank god for the Blackberry!!! Trying to find a “wifi” cafe in which the wifi worked, was difficult…The first one I found was fine for the first two days and then they lost their connection…maybe a good thing, since I was tiring of the “peanut gallery” at the bar, who felt the need to converse with me at all times (oh they took turns talking…mostly)!

Not much to report…but we can catch up a little…

My friend, Celeste (who used to wrestle) was here this weekend. She is a lucky girl who lives part time in NYC, London and Paris, too. So she traveled in and we went to the Eiffel Tour, as she hadn’t been there previously. Another British friend joined us and we climbed to the 2nd floor (I insisted upon that!!!) and then took the lift to the top! Wow! It was cold and windy up there! I couldn’t wait to get back down. I’m a such a sissy in cold weather, as many of you know! After that we walked across the river to the right bank and along the Seine…Lisa insisted we go to the Hotel Crillon for an aperitif! Tres Cher!!!! Ouch!! But it was beautiful, but not somewhere I could frequent on my limited budget! After we strolled along the Seine and to a little restaurant/bar called Le Fumoir. It was lively and we enjoyed ourselves. Lisa and our British friend insisted on a nightcap before we went home…so we found another lively little bar, La Palette (we were now back on the left back and I was trying to head back to my apartment). After 2 more rounds, some funny french boys started to talk to us (I think they were college students) and we ended up going to a late night club where we had a private room with a big screen and we stayed up very very late watching the Oscars in french! It was very funny and I enjoyed practicing my french, telling these kids about Hollywood and how close the Oscars are from my house (less than a mile) and how much I wanted Mickey Rourke to win because he used to co own my boxing gym and I think he is an amazing actor…but Sean Penn won, and although I haven’t seen the film, “Milk”, yet, I’m sure his award was well deserved! So we had a very fun time…But I was very sluggish on Monday morning!!!

Hey, speaking of the Oscars, I was so thrilled that “Slumdog Millionaire” won the award! Super film! And god forbid, I love something with an uplifting ending!!! Yay!!! But, sadly “Waltz with Bashir” didn’t win in the best foreign film category! It is a must see, if you haven’t seen it!

OK, back to wrestling!!! So the rest of my week was fair to poor, I would say…I had a little accident and have ended up with quite a shiner on my right eye…then I ended up with food poisoning after eating prawns at a little restaurant in Odeon. I woke up about 1 am in the morning and was extremely ill. I thought my stomach muscles were going to turn inside out when there was no bile left in me. I was in extreme pain and felt very alone and quite depressed!!! At some point in the afternoon, I fainted due to dehydration! I had to cancel a couple of things that I really was disappointed about…but I’ll make up for it next time! That is a guarantee! And today started out very upbeat as my cab driver, an older, very friendly chap, sang to me all the way to Gare du Nord, some songs he had wriitten. He put the cd of the music on and off he went, singing in french and I could understand all the lyrics. I have his email and might order his cd. Why not??? He was so jolly and sweet and told me he had visited California and loved it!! That little episode was enough to brighten my entire day!

I’m not even back home yet, but already making my travel plans!! I may be coming to a city near you very soon! So keep abreast of my travel dates…

I’ll be in London later today and tomorrow. I may well be heading to Tokyo in mid March to visit my dear friend, Amrita, and who knows what we might get up to there!!! I love Tokyo! It’s like being a blue eyed, blonde haired cartoon character in living in a giant animated puzzle! But that is still up in the air!!! If I can’t make it this coming month, then very soon!

I will definitely be in San Francisco on the 9th and 10th of March. And hopefully in Chicago and NYC towards the end of the month!! And yes…I’ve got Dallas, Atlanta, DC, Cleveland and more in the works!

My schedule is hectic, but I have to keep moving to bring home the bacon…I sure do miss my pups and I hear they miss me terribly…but I’ll see them very soon.
